Privacy policy

Article 1 – Purpose and Scope

These General Terms and Conditions of Sale (GTCS) govern the sale of books and products offered by Basalte Éditions on this website to any non-commercial individual customer (the “Customer”). Placing an order implies full and unconditional acceptance of these GTCS.

Article 2 – Products

The products offered are books and publications edited or distributed by Basalte Éditions. Photographs and descriptions are as accurate as possible but shall not give rise to the publisher’s liability in the event of minor differences.

Article 3 – Prices

Prices are stated in euros, including all applicable taxes (VAT included), with the reduced VAT rate of 5.5% applicable to books. In accordance with French Law No. 81-766 of August 10, 1981 on fixed book pricing (the “Lang Law”), the retail price of books is set by the publisher, and discounts greater than 5% may not be applied. Delivery charges are indicated before the order is confirmed and are charged in addition to the purchase price.

Article 4 – Delivery Charges

In accordance with the regulations governing the distance sale of books, a minimum delivery charge of €3 applies to all orders under €35 delivered within France. Delivery of books is never free of charge.

Article 5 – Orders

The Customer confirms the order after verifying the contents of the shopping cart. The sale is concluded upon receipt of the order confirmation sent by email. Basalte Éditions reserves the right to cancel any order in the event of a payment dispute or stock shortage.

Article 6 – Payment

Payment is made online by credit/debit card or any other payment method offered at the time of ordering, through a secure payment platform. Payment is charged upon order confirmation. Orders are processed only after full payment has been successfully received.

Article 7 – Delivery

Products are delivered to the address provided by the Customer within the delivery times indicated during the ordering process (for information purposes only). In the event of a delay, the Customer may, under the conditions set out in Article L216-6 of the French Consumer Code, request cancellation of the sale. Risk transfers to the Customer upon delivery of the parcel.

Article 8 – Right of Withdrawal

In accordance with Articles L221-18 et seq. of the French Consumer Code, the Customer has a period of 14 days from receipt of the products to exercise the right of withdrawal without providing any reason. The Customer must notify Basalte Éditions by means of an unequivocal statement (email to basalte.editions@gmail.com). Products must be returned in good condition within 14 days following such notification; return shipping costs are borne by the Customer. Reimbursement will be made within 14 days of receipt of the withdrawal request, using the same payment method originally used for the purchase.

Article 9 – Statutory Warranties

Products benefit from the statutory warranty of conformity (Articles L217-3 et seq. of the French Consumer Code, valid for 2 years) and the warranty against hidden defects (Articles 1641 et seq. of the French Civil Code). To make a claim under either warranty, the Customer should contact Basalte Éditions at basalte.editions@gmail.com.

Article 10 – Consumer Mediation

In accordance with Article L612-1 of the French Consumer Code, after submitting a written complaint to Basalte Éditions and failing to obtain a satisfactory response, the Customer may use, free of charge, the consumer mediation service CM2C, to which Basalte Éditions is affiliated:

Article 11 – Personal Data

Collected personal data are processed in accordance with the Privacy Policy available on the website.

Article 12 – Governing Law

These GTCS are governed by French law. In the event of a dispute, the parties shall seek an amicable resolution before initiating any legal proceedings.
